Restarting and Resetting
Most people think that restarting and resetting means the same thing but its not. Restarting is your computer is made to shut down (normally) and then made to start again after the rebooting process. Restarting your computer can be done several ways with internal features of the operating system (O/S), including the shut down menu. Resetting is different and is done by pressing the power button on the computer case. When you reset your computer, you’re shutting down forcefully and then starting it again which can cause hard drive data to become fragmented which can result in slower data retrieval. When resetting is done, the computer is not allowed to shut down in the normal way and can cause problems if done frequently.
If possible, always look to restart your computer from the start menu in the operating system( within windows). Resetting your computer is only recommended if you can’t restart normally, basically when nothing else work. Reasons for resetting! Frozen display “computer freezes” or, blue screen syndrome “screen of death”. But for simple requirements like installing software or doing configurations and updates, only restarting normally through windows is needed.
